Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines when developing policies, and the CDC`s latest measures allow many communities to relieve their indoor masking needs. Governor Hochul announced in late 2021 that masks must be worn in all indoor public spaces, unless businesses or venues implement mandatory vaccinations. This measure remains in force. In addition, the New York Department of Health recommends that everyone, including those who have been vaccinated or previously infected, wear masks indoors and in crowded outdoor spaces. New York City began requiring private companies to ban unvaccinated employees from the workplace in December 2021. Testing requirements President Biden recently announced the requirement for all arriving international travelers 2 years of age and older, regardless of vaccination status, to provide proof of a negative Covid-19 test result within 24 hours of departure (this one-day rule replaced the previous 72-hour precaution). A rapid antigen test or nucleic acid amplification test (such as a PCR test) is accepted.
